The heartwood or core of the Sandalwood tree is where the majority of the essential oils reside. These disks (or biscuits) are of the highest quality, with a fragrant, buttery and thick Sandalwood aroma. The heartwood is fairly dense so it does not burn too quickly.
This Indonesian Sandalwood has similarities to what one might find in India, though it is certainly a different phenotype with a slight fruity aroma.
These can be burned as is or a small piece can be placed in an electric incense heater for a slow and steady release of the aroma. These are also suitable for tea, only a small piece is required. Research "Tan Xiang" and its uses in Traditional Chinese Medicine for more information.
