Mayan Copal Resin
A rich and sweet smelling copal resin with a citrus note. This particular copal is special because the resin is partially fossilized and in some pieces, you can see part of the tree it came from (a species of pine called Pinus pseudostrobus). Though this copal comes from a pine species, it doesn't have a piney or evergreen aroma. The resin is so old that the volatile pine oils have long since dissipated, leaving behind only the deep and sweet resinous notes.
The Mesoamericans burned large amounts of copal for cleansing, offerings and protection. This is one of types they used. This resin is very dry and brittle so it powders quite easily in a mortar and pestle.
Resin chunks range between 1/4" up to 2", the larger pieces weight about 1 oz each. I only ship whole pieces, though the nature of shipping may produce some powder.
